Disabled Access Tour of Northern Albania

Guided • 5 Days • 250 euro/night/person (including accommodation, full board)

Intro

Join us in pristine northern Albania for a chance to connect with nature and experience the delicious fare of this rich and sunlit land, in a tour adapted for those with limited mobility. Over the course of 5 days, you will learn the joys of Albanian cooking, take part in a wine tour (including tasting and visiting our farm), and tour lake Shkoder and the historic centres of Shkoder city and Tirana.

The tour includes time at Florian’s Guesthouse. This guesthouse is picturesque (without stairs). The layout includes, wide, flat, well-lit paths and portable ramps; perfect for travellers in wheelchairs. Here in Albania, some roads and paths can be uneven or untarmacked, meaning wheelchair users may struggle with mobility. This disabled access tour is best suited to wheelchair users who have full upper body control and preserve some limited lower body control; we have had visitors of this kind before who had no issues with negotiating the Guesthouse and local tours.

We’re confident in offering quality, unforgettable tours to disabled travellers, and we look forward to welcoming you to our home!

Please note: we don’t have access to specialized accessible travel equipment (like chairlifts, specialized vans or slings) for moving immobile individuals.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Pick up from airport, tour of guesthouse, introduction to animals

Today, we will pick you up from the airport and take you to our guesthouse. We will introduce you to the local area and our farm, help you unpack, and introduce you to our family. Depending on the weather and whether you’d like to, there is also the possibility of a walk in the surrounding countryside.

Day 2 : Visit to lake Shkodra

Today, we will take you on a tour to the placid lake Shkodra, with the possibility of picnicking on the beachside, as well as taking in the picturesque scenery.

Located about a one hour drive from Shkodër, our Shkodra excursion will culminate in a relaxing journey on the smooth glass-like water. If this adventure sounds familiar to you, it’s likely because you may have heard about it in travel guides; it is renowned as one of the great lake tours of Europe. We hope you’ll come see this magnificent lake for yourself!

Day 3 : Tour of Shkoder city

This half-day tour is a favorite among guests who come to explore Shkodër, Albania’s fifth-largest city. Shkodër has been inhabited by the Illyrians, the Slavs and the Ottomans.

According to Lonely Planet®, Shkodër is “one of the oldest cities in Europe.” As you explore with us sites like Rozafa Castle, the Communist Jail, and other sites of significance, we are certain you will feel our country’s history. A detailed itinerary can be found here.

Day 4 : Tour of our farm and vineyard, with wine tasting, followed by an Albanian cooking workshop in the afternoon

Our sustainable farming lifestyle tour immerses you in what an agriculture experience looks and feels like. Please join us for a morning tour at our farm. Here you will connect to the earth; our garden, orchard and vineyards and you will share in a very different daily routine. Please find more details of this tour here, and more details of the Albanian cooking workshop here.

Day 5 :

Today, we will rise early to return to Tirana. The capital and pulsating heart of Albania. Here you can observe all facets of the country; ancient traditions to the modern way of life. After a farewell dinner, we will drop you off at the airport. Safe travels!

More details on the day trip to Tirana can be found here.
